Tumbling Coordinator, Karen Hansen
Karen Hansen previously owned and operated a competitive tumbling facility in the Quad Cities. She has coached many athletes to state and national titles and had several students on the AAU Junior Olympic team. Miss Hansen is also a certified EMT.
All of our instructors are certified in CPR and first aid through the American Heart Association. The instructors are specifically trained to teach beginner through advanced levels of tumbling and have monthly safety and spotting evaluations. |

Before your child is allowed to sign up for a tumbling class they must meet with Karen Hansen so she can assess their tumbling skills and properly place them in the correct tumbling classes, as space is limited. Please contact her at 815.223.7904 x 39

Parent and Tot
For adults to take with their children to introduce their child to tumbling and promote social interaction with other children. Parents are not required to do any tumbling skills for this class and are instructed in how to teach some skills at home.
Pre-School
Designed for children ages 2 and up who are able to participate in an hour class without parent participation. Parents are required to stay through each class.
Beginner - ages 5 and up.
Students begin learning tuck rolls, straddle rolls, cartwheels and back bends.
Advanced Beginner
Students are proficient at all beginner skills and able to do their backbend, from a standing position, without an instructor.
Pre-Novice
Students are able to perform back walkovers, front walkovers, and front limbers without an instructor and have a good round off. This class focuses on the back handspring.
Sub-Novice
Students are able to perform one back handspring and begin connecting rows and begin learning back tucks and front tucks.
Novice
Students are able to perform at least 4 connected back handsprings. Students work on back tucks, front tucks and learn layout positions.
Intermediate
Students are able to perform 3 back handsprings with an aerial connected. Students work on whips and 8 skill passes. Sub-Advanced - Students are able to perform reversals and working on full twisting layouts.
Advanced
Students can perform 8 skill passes that include at least two aerials and full twisting layouts, front fulls, double fulls, etc. Sky's the limit!!
Our cheerleading team offers your child all the benefits without the huge expenses. Cheerleading team meets once a week for an hour and they work on routines, jumps, sideline cheers, and stunting. The team performs at local events throughout the year and represents the Y at community events and parades.
The Y offers a Tumble Track Trampoline and a double-Mini Trampoline. Our NEW Double-Mini trampoline is a string bed trampoline designed to teach aerials and aerial twisting. Double-Mini is also a competitive event in the United States Tumbling Association and USA Gymnastics. the Tumble Track is a great tool used to improve tumbling skills.
