The Illinois Valley youth gym is open during all operation hours of the YMCA. The gym is open for basketball or volleyball, and is equipped with 3 volleyball courts and 6 basketball backboards. At times the gym may be scheduled with youth activities in non-primetime hours.
Youth Wellness Center Blue Card Training
Are you 11 years of age and tired of just playing in the gym and are you serious about getting in shape? Well, the YMCA has a program for you. Sign up now to receive your Wellness Center Training from one of the quality YMCA personal trainers. Class is required if you wish to use the Wellness Center. Must have blue card training and blue card on person at all times when in the wellness center.

This program is perfect for the beginner baseball fanatic that wants to learn more about the game of baseball! Skills will be learned throughout this 6 week program and then practiced in a game setting!

Youth NFL Flag Football
Our new NFL Flag Football program is geared towards the child who wnats to try out football without the risk of injury! The first week will be skills and team placements, with the following 6 weeks of games. Games will be played Saturday mornings at Baker's Lake and practices will be during the week with days to be decided when league begins. Each partidipant receives an NFL Flag Jersey and flag belt. The first day of the program will be at 9:00 am for skills and team placement.

Drop the kids off for a night of fun, pizza and NERF wars. Participants need to provide their own NERF guns, darts and protective eyewear. We will provide the obstacle course. A variety of games will be offered including Capture the Flag, King of the Hill and Team Elimination. Age levels will be seperated.

Y Tae Kwon Do
Tae Kwon Do teaches self defense as well as improves self confidence, discipline, coordination, and physical and mental capabilities. Through Tae Kwon Do, students learn to become leaders, not followers, and they develop the ''yes, I can'' attitude when facing daily challenges at home, school or work. The Illinois Valley YMCA's Tae Kwon Do is a branch school of the Won Jung Martial Arts Association of Rockford. Amber Sessler is the instructor. White, Yellow belts & children 6-12 , Purple belt and above & children and all ranks of Adults 13 and up.

Little Tigers Tae Kwon Do
Tae Kwon Do isn't just for adults. Our Little Tigers program
offers children as young as 3 and up to 6 years of age a high energy
class that helps stimulate the mind, focus their abundant energy and learn
simple techniques and training to build a lifetime upon. We have seen an
overwhelming number of over exuberant youngsters with little or no outlet for
their energies. This course was developed with that need in mind. Our main
focus for Illinois Valley Tae Kwon Do is respect. We hope to teach your child
to bring the tenants of Tae Kwon Do into their lives, not just as a sport but as
a way of life that will help them be more confident, reliable and perserverant
individuals. Because the Little Tigers Program provides the core elements, when
your child outgrows Little Tigers, they can smoothly transition into our Pee Wee
Tae Kwon Do Class. Instructor Amber Sessler, who began martial arts training at
the age of 7 is a 3rd degree Black Belt, a certified primary and secondary
teacher with a special education endorsement and coaching certification.
