Illinois Valley YMCA

People often wonder why the Illinois Valley YMCA needs an Endowment Fund too, when we already have income from membership and program fees, run an annual campaign for contributions, have the Taste of Illinois Valley, Invest in Youth Advertising Club, and our Golf Outing. The simple answer is stability. The Endowment Fund pays out interest every year, in good economic times and bad. It provides an extra cushion of support for those programs which need contributions to survive -- like scholarships for low income members, Youth Programs, and to help fund our building expansions.
An Endowment Fund helps donors as well. By accepting gifts through wills and other estate plans, an Endowment Fund enables the donor to have a major, lasting impact on the Illinois Valley YMCA, perhaps even greater than a person could have in a lifetime. In the past few years we've learned that our best efforts at raising money cannot by themselves produce enough income to support the major community development initiatives we've undertaken in expanding our Illinois Valley YMCA. We will have to generate other reliable sources of funding to carry out our mission. That's why we need an Endowment Fund. Thanks for your help.
